Top 6 Best Wineries on Long Island

When people think of famous wine regions, they often picture Napa Valley, CA or Bordeau, France. But what about our very own Long Island, NY? Adding Long Island to the list of world-famous wine regions may raise some eyebrows, but once you experience just a few wines from the best wineries on Long Island, you’ll be a believer.

Wanna know the secret? Long Island wineries are at roughly the same latitude as France’s most renowned wine countries. On top of that, the Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay protecting this region pair with the exceptionally complex soil to make a perfect environment to grow quality grapes for exceptional wines.

Here are just a few of the Long Island wineries we can’t get enough of. Spoiler: you can visit most of these on our Long Island Wine Tour — so if you want to experience a few of the best wineries on Long Island in one fun afternoon, check it out!

Osprey’s Dominion

Location: Peconic, NY
Specialty wines: Carmenere, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc
Vineyard vibe: Spacious, homey, friendly, barn-chic
🍷 Visit this on our wine tour!

Osprey’s Dominion is one of the first vineyards in the region, starting with just 24 acres and a family effort in 1983. Over time, they added more acres, renovated an old barn into a tasting room and added a stage for live music. With tons of outdoor space for lawn games and several picnic tables, it’s one of the few wineries still allowing guests to bring picnics. Osprey’s Dominion is the perfect winery to enjoy when you want to sip fantastic wine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
