Itinerary

Day 1 Edinburgh & Arrival

Location: Edinburgh

Accomodation: Brooks Hotel, Edinburgh or similar.

On day one you’ll fly into Edinburgh Airport. Hop onto the train with your included train tickets and be whisked to the city of Edinborough where you’ll check into your hotel in the center of the city! Take the day to get settled and get ready for a few days of exploration in this amazing Capital City.

Day 2 Exploring Edinborough

Location: Edinburgh

Accomodation: Brooks Hotel, Edinburgh or similar.

Meals: Hearty Breakfast!

On our second day, wake up in Edinborough and be treated to a hearty Scottish Breakfast. On this day you can explore the city and perhaps take advantage of your included entrance to Edinburgh Castle. Climb the hill to Edinburgh Castle, poised on ‘Castle Rock” where you can take in the breathtaking views of Edinburgh and revel in the rich history of this epic Scottish fortress. You can also take in the world famous Scotch Whiskey Experience.  On the Scotch Whiskey Experience, you will take a guided tour through the history of Scotch Whiskey, complete with whiskey tasting! End your day by being bold and take advantage of the local cuisine!  Head in to the Old Town where you can dive into a classic Scottish pub and try some authentic Haggis!

Day 3 Day Tour of St. Andrews

Location: Edinburgh

Accomodation: Brooks Hotel, Edinburgh or similar.

Once again wake up to a hearty Scottish breakfast before you embark on an epic Day Tour to St Andrews from Edinburgh. This tour includes a crossing of the Iconic Forth Bridge into the ancient “Kingdom of Fife”. After a scenic ride, you’ll arrive in St. Andrews for lunch (not included) and a free afternoon. From there, you will visit the village of Falkland, Loch Leven (scene of Mary Queen of Scots imprisonment and escape) and on to the picturesque village of South Queensferry you will enjoy the final stop before returning to Edinburgh.

Description:

We leave Edinburgh, crossing the iconic Forth Bridge, into the ancient “Kingdom of Fife”. We enjoy a photo stop at Aberdour before continuing into the East Neuk of Fife. We stop in the town of Anstruther, home of the Scottish Fisheries Museum, then we travel through the villages of Pittenweem, Crail and St. Monans, once thriving fishing centres which were made prosperous by trade within the continent. We arrive in the beautiful medieval town of St. Andrews in time for lunch. Here you can enjoy a walk around the town, where Prince William met Kate, home to the oldest university in Scotland, famous Cathedral and golf course. Enjoy approximately three hours of free time to explore its medieval buildings and wonderful cobbled streets in the centre, and have lunch and refreshments. Heading homewards we travel across the Lomond hills to Falkland for a photo stop. The village was used as the setting for 1960s Inverness in the Outlander series. Then, descending to Loch Leven (scene of Mary Queen of Scot’s imprisonment and escape) and on to the picturesque village of South Queensferry where we enjoy our final stop before returning to Edinburgh.

 

Day 4 Arrival in Inverness

Location: Inverness

Meals: Hearty Breakfast!

 

Enjoy your hearty breakfast before it’s time to bid “Guidbye for noo” to Edinburgh. From there, you’ll hop on the train to Inverness with your included trans-city train fare. Upon arrival you’ll check in to your centrally located hotel and start to explore this lovely city. Inverness is a great choice if you are not as keen to spend your vacation based in a very large city and feels quiet and easily walkable after the hustle and bustle of Edinborough.

Day 5 Loch Ness Day Tour & Cruise

Location: Inverness

No visit to Inverness (or indeed Scotland) would be complete without a visit to Loch Ness! With that in mind, we have included a Day Tour to Loch Ness with an included boat cruise and visit to Urquhart Castle. Learn everything you have ever wanted to know about Nessie (the Loch Ness Monster) and visit the mighty stronghold of Urquhart Castle – complete with a Nessie exhibition.

Take advantage your final full day in Scotland by exploring Inverness! Inverness lays claim to the title of “Capital of the Highlands” and it lives up to that. The city boasts its share of culture and history but it’s also easy to explore on foot for a quiet day in the city. Here you will find a thriving food scene and the opportunity to stroll through historic neighborhoods and partake in some quaint shopping. Included in this option is a hop-on-hop-off tour day pass of Inverness as well. Finish off your trip well and treat yourself to a nice dinner.

How do I know which train to take?

We will book anytime open return tickets for you. You can then choose any train with the booked train operator on that day. We will deliver train tickets will be delivered to the first hotel you stay in in Edinburgh and attach a train timetable.

Is this a guided tour?

No! There is no guide on this trip – it’s a self guided package!

Trip is nonrefundable. No full or partial refunds are given to customers who miss the event. In the event of a cancellation by the operator, your ticket will be fully refunded. For reschedules within 10 days of departure there is a $35 rescheduling fee per person. There are no reschedules or refunds for missing the bus or no-shows.
