Storm King Art Center Day Trip

New York, NY

Update 3/7/22: Dates now live for 2022! Book in advance for flexible reschedules. Read more about our Covid Safety Protocols.

What better way to discover the wonder outside of NYC than a day of exploration & inspiration at the Storm King Arts Center? More than an outdoor museum of modern & contemporary art, Storm King is a fantastical wonderland masquerading as a beautifully landscaped sculpture park. Its inhabitants? Captivating behemoths let out to pasture, by some of the art world’s most influential minds, to graze beneath the shadow of mountains.

In the Domain of the Valley, Storm King is a Crown Jewel

The Hudson Valley is a cultural hub of art and creativity, from the nearby town of Beacon where we find the homes of the late, great musician Pete Seeger as well as renowned art museum, Dia: Beacon; to the terroir inspired gastronomy and feats of fermentation in Warwick, the Town of Cornwall boasts its own heavyweight–and dare I say, reigning?–champion in the scene: The Storm King Art Center. Skirting the state parklands of Schunnemunk Mountain, Storm King collects, exhibits, and conserves modern and contemporary art—from large-scale sculptures situated in Storm King’s expansive landscape, to site-specific earthworks, to related drawings and photographs—to create a dynamic and unique place to explore art in nature.”

There & Back Again (& Everything in Between!)

Meet up with your Group Leader at one of two pick-up locations in Manhattan. Make sure you have your covid docs, ID, masks for the bus ride, and anything else you need for the day, and  make sure those waivers are signed before loading up for a less than 1.5 hour bus ride north along the Hudson. Upon arrival, take advantage of some free time to explore the grounds before meeting up at the Museum Hill where you picnic or purchase lunch at the Outdoor Cafe for a locally sourced menu of sandwiches, salads, snacks, and drinks (including beer & wine 😉). Following lunch, we will gather on the Hill for a docent-led tour at 2:30. After gaining some insight we will have a bit more time to continue exploring on our own before boarding the bus for a prompt, 5:00 return to the City.

Book early to save! Prices go up as the bus fills up.
