The Southern Iceland Tour transports guests to the gems dotted along the country’s southern shore.
Over the course of this 10 hour day trip you will take in the mountainous coastline shaped by the demanding Atlantic, the spectacular, rugged waterfalls that attract visitors from all over the world as well as glaciers and an array of geological formations.
The trip picks up right from your hotel door and stops at the major attractions of the south shore. On this Southern Iceland Tour you will visit a variety of places including:
– Black Sand Beach
Collections of columnar structures sit atop of the dark, fine sand at Reynisfjara’s Black Sand Beach. The rock formations were created thousands of years ago as a result of rapid cooling, creating a natural staircase of basaltic columns.
– Sólheimajökull Glacier
Myrdalsjokull ice-cap extends an icey limb in the form of Sólheimajökull glacier. The glacier is constantly changing and shrinking as a result of ice melting away and is currently 1-2km wide and approximately 11km long.
– Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Water pours over the 60m high jagged cliff face. Nature has kindly carved out the rock at the base of the fall, allowing visitors to a walk directly behind the waterfall and treating them to a unique Icelandic experience.
– Skógafoss Waterfall
A 25m wide stream of water cascades into the river that gently snakes from Skógafoss Waterfall. If you’re lucky, you might catch the iridescent colors of the rainbow in the mist surrounding the fall.
Over the course of the 10 hour trip you will visit some of Iceland’s most spectacular sights. Join us on the Southern Iceland Tour and discover the sheer natural diversity of one of Europe’s most thriving countries.
